Phantasy Star Portable 2 coming to North America by 3Q 2010
It’s back, it’s confirmed, and it’s coming this year!
For those who enjoyed all the action from wielding laser weapons, turning beastly and all that makes Phantasy Star Portable a very enjoyable game, you’ll definitely find more to enjoy in Phantasy Star Portable 2, the second installment of the Phantasy Star franchise for the PSP platform.
New guns included… See?
Set in the same universe of Gurhal three years passed, where the SEED have been finally sealed, Phantasy Star Portable 2 starts with another conflict, where resources for survival are rapidly diminishing. Due to this rapid scarcity, the inhabitants of Gurhal migrate to outer space through “sub-space sailing.” You, the player, starts as a member of Little Wing, a military group on a space colony resort.
Player creation is the same, only with a few changes and additions. Or if you want, and you have a save data in Phantasy Star Portable, you can import that data into PSP2 to use the same character, with nearly the same facial attributes and costume. The appearance is the only thing imported however, all levels and stats will be reset. But there are a few good things in importing a PSP data, you get a photon saber named “EXAM” and an armor part (depending on your job) as you start the game. Also, people know and acknowledge your (former) GUARDIAN status in the game.
One of the major changes in gameplay however is that Photon Points are applied to the character as a stat, and not to the weapons. So you basically have one bar for all weapons you use your TECHNIC and Photon Arts with. Photon Charges are now gone, leaving the player to gain more Photon Points by melee attacks and regeneration.
Still, it won’t stop you from doing these right?
Along with the changes in the game, new missions are added, more areas can be explored, new characters to meet and use, and tons more of weapons at your disposal.
Now there’s something to make you stay at the edge of your seats.
